Two suspects remain at large after robbing two male students early Saturday morning according to Department of Public Safety reports.

A DPS e-mail alert sent Saturday detailed the incident.

The suspects approached the victims near O'Donnell Hall shortly after midnight. The suspects then displayed a weapon and demanded personal property from the students, the alert said.

According to the alert, both students were then transported by the suspects to ATM machines and forced to withdraw money. After the suspects had received the money, the students were dropped off in separate off-campus locations.

The suspects fled the scene in their vehicle, which the alert described as a "silver, older model minivan."

According the descriptions provided in the alert, both suspects are black men, 18-20 years of age, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, with a medium build, and were wearing black-hooded sweatshirts and black jeans.

Whether or not the students were injured the in the incident has not yet been confirmed by DPS.

"We're fine, and the right steps are being taken," said one of the victims, who asked to remain anonymous. "We don't want to sensationalize this and glorify the guys who did it."

The e-mail alert reminded students to continue to exercise common sense safety precautions, such as utilizing the LIMO service and walking in groups.

Joe,

I absolutely agree: a kidnapping and a robbery (and several other things). My point was that Marquette acted to diminish the gravity of the event by calling it a "mere" robbery instead of a kidnapping. (Continued…)
