Suspects apprehended in Marquette car robbery
By Marie Gentile
The Milwaukee Police Department apprehended four suspects Wednesday night in an off-campus armed car robbery, according to Department of Public Safety reports.
According to a previous DPS report sent at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, two male suspects approached a car in the 1400 block of West Kilbourn Avenue carrying two Marquette students. One suspect showed a weapon and demanded the driver and passenger exit the vehicle. The suspects then fled the area in the victim's car, a black 2008 Acura MDX.
The victims were not physically injured, and no other property was obtained. The Milwaukee Police Department was contacted and responded to the scene.
Chief of DPS Larry Rickard, said in Wednesday night's report that the capture was because of the "excellent work" of MPD and the detailed descriptions provided by the victims.
Rickard said Marquette students and employees need to continue to exercise common-sense precautions regarding safety and to take full advantage of such DPS services as LIMOs and blue light phones.
